Attention Randall FANS

Description

If you're a real fan of Randall Boggs, from the 2001 Disney/Pixar movie, "Monsters, Inc.", YOU NEED TO READ THIS!
It's all but official now that Pixar IS making a sequel to that movie, which will be released in either 2012 or 2013, with Peter Docter once again directing. No information yet as to the storyline, plot, setting(s), character/casting, BUT this means one of three scenarios, insofar as Randall returning is concerned.

Scenario One: Randall does NOT appear in the sequel, possibly does not even get mentioned, and either Pixar decides they don't really need a "bad guy", or they get some other character for Mike and Sulley to beat up/defeat.

Scenario Two: Randall DOES return, but is once more negatively stereotyped as the epitome of all Evil, reinforcing that mind-set that all reptilian or scaly creatures must be evil and horrible and can be no other way. He once more is a threat to poor Mike and Sulley and possibly Boo or some other innocent little human kid, and once more is defeated by them. THAT can only mean ONE thing this time around, folks: Randall DIES. Not a "did he or didn't he get killed" ending, but one that will leave no doubt that he's dead.

Scenario Three: Randall returns, possibly starting out on a sour note, out for revenge against the two who lynched him(yeah, you read that right), but due perhaps to the intervention of another character, he undergoes a gradual, plausible character arc, and finally get that chance to show that side of him that many of us KNEW was there all along, in line with Stitch's character arc in "Lilo and Stitch"

Now, MY choice, without a doubt, is Scenario Three. It would be nice, through this character, if Pixar would take the chance to explore two themes that they have not really touched on much: FORGIVENESS and SECOND CHANCES. I'd much rather see that, than the worn-out Saturday morning kiddie cartoon formula of "Good Guys vs. Bad Guys, Good Guys Beat Up Bad Guys and Get All The Rewards".

If you're with me on this, if you really ARE a Randall fan and you believe in forgiveness and second chances, here's what you can do to help. The sequel is in its early stages now, which means that the script might not be finalized. WRITE to Pixar, and let them know how you feel about Randall's role in the sequel! That address is Pixar Animation Studios, 1200 Park Avenue, Emeryville, CA 94608. It would probably be a good idea to address those letter in care of Peter Docter, as well. Do NOT send a script idea or a fanfic, just let them know how much you like this character, and how you believe that there is still much potential to have him undergo and positive character arc and send a really good message to the audience. More importantly, PASS THE WORD! Let others who are fans know; if you can make fanart, then make it! Don't worry if it's perfect as long as it gets the point across! If you can write, write fanfiction, whatever! If you can make videos, put 'em up(just be careful of the YouTube Copywrite Police). The more fans that Pixar hears from, and the more letters they have in their hands, the more likely it is that we might be able to make a change. Maybe, maybe not, but it's worth a try. If they ignore us, then we'll know that Pixar's claims that all fans are important, and that they do listen to what fans want, is a LIE.
Yes, Randall and "Monsters, Inc." still belong to Disney/Pixar, but I'm hoping that WE can have some say as to what they do with him.
