Another pic of the Northern Black Widow female I caught earlier this evening under the eaves of a storage building. She is about the size of a typical grape, and would pack enough venom to put me in a world of hurt, me and about 12-15 other people! These beauties are no joke, but they are actually very docile, meek animals, not at all aggressive, even with me having to use a stick and then an envelope to push her off her web into a tall deli cup, which will be her home from now on, where I can keep an eye on her. People get bitten by these when they DON'T see the spider and put a hand or foot down on it, leaving the spider with little recourse but to bite.

She is just a b-e-a-utiful girl! Her markings are so lovely!

Random note: I'm going to go find a grape and try to imagine it being that big. I've only seen one Widow female in person and she wasn't too big at the time, at least from what I can remember.
